DOWN, DOWN, DOWN: Having rammed full speed into their own hubris and arrogance, the Republican Party sank in the 2006 midterm elections.

At this point it looks like the Democrats will take the House. The Senate is still in question, but stay tuned.

The "sinking" of the Republican Party. An interesting metaphor. Already the media coverage shows signs of Republicans wrapping themselves in their fur coats and scampering into the "life boats," which in this case means turning to the political left. What will be the first dead weight to be tossed overboard from the GOP?

My guess: overnight the Republican Party will cease to be overtly Christian in its communication style to the American people. The Evangelical voting block will continue to support the Republicans, but the party leadership will reject that strategy. Gay marriage smear campaigns? My prediction is that they will be gone.

The scramble we will likely see is towards the "management" frame--Republicans trying to say that they will be the Senators or Representative who will solve problems better, manage the budget better, be more effective.

The magic word that invokes the management frame is "work."

The "management" frame. Expect it.
